What does the examination involve?

A trichological check-up is a regular, in-depth examination of the scalp and hair using a trichological camera (200× magnification), performed during ongoing therapy or supplementation. It is non-invasive, painless and extremely precise – allowing us to observe the progress of treatment, the hair follicles' response to therapy and any side effects or changes requiring a modification of the therapeutic plan.

During the visit the specialist compares the current scalp condition with earlier photographic records. They also update the health and lifestyle interview, in order to adjust the therapy to hormonal changes, stress, diet or seasonality.

At Face and Body Institute a check-up is not a routine review – it is part of the strategic management of scalp therapy, built into our signature TrychoPlans.

Goals and effects of the trichological check-up: an objective assessment of the effectiveness of therapy and supplementation; early detection of inflammatory changes or stagnation in therapy; regulation of the intensity of hair-growth-stimulating treatments; adjustment of home care and dietary recommendations; documentation of progress in the form of photos and microcamera data; prevention of recurrence of hair loss, seborrhoea and dandruff.

Indications

  • People undergoing therapy for androgenic, telogen or alopecia areata
  • Patients after a series of mesotherapy, carboxytherapy or other trichological treatments
  • Clients using hormonal, vitamin or amino-acid supplementation
  • People after recovery, childbirth or pharmacological treatment
  • Clients changing their lifestyle (e.g. diet, stress, change of job, climate)

Contraindications

None. The microcamera check-up is a diagnostic procedure, safe even for pregnant women and the chronically ill. Based on the image, however, the specialist may decide to postpone or change planned stimulating treatments.

The trichological check-up is a therapeutic element, not a stand-alone treatment. It may be carried out during or after: scalp mesotherapy (assessing the effectiveness of needle therapy); carboxytherapy (analysing improvements in microcirculation and tissue oxygenation); peels and cleansing therapies (assessing the effectiveness of removing seborrhoea and deposits); anti-dandruff or anti-inflammatory courses; pharmacotherapy (hormonal, dermatological medication – observing side effects); long-term supplementation (assessing whether the ingredients are well absorbed and have a clinical effect).

Does the check-up need to be repeated?

Yes – within each TrychoPlan we set a check-up schedule: every 3–4 weeks during the active phase of therapy; every 2–3 months during the maintenance phase; 1–2 times a year as a form of prevention against recurrence.
