Have you ever wondered what most makeup products available on drugstore shelves contain in their ingredients?
I am sorry to say that these are not skin-friendly ingredients. Parabens or p-hydroxybenzoic acid esters, which are great preservatives, but highly sensitizing to our skin. Harmful synthetic substances, silicone which strongly dries and clogs the skin, as well as, among others, SLSy or sodium lauryl sulfate, an ingredient that is very often used in washing products such as car fluids or domestos, I don’t have to explain that this is not the best combination with our skin 🙂
Of course, it would be hypocritical if I said that you absolutely should not use these products. I myself have such products in my makeup bag, but I think that if we are talking about daily makeup and we care about proper skin care, it is worth considering changing at least the base product, which is the foundation, with which our skin has the most contact, otherwise we will be stuck in a vicious circle.
So what is worth putting on our toilet shelf? 🙂
It is worth trying mineral cosmetics, as the name suggests, these are products that use the goodness that comes from nature. Natural ingredients + minerals, which have many care properties.
Personally, I most often work with Clare Blanc brand products. In their composition you will find, among other things:
– Jojoba esters, a natural butter derived from jojoba oil, which softens the skin without creating blackheads, moisturizes and forms a protective layer on the skin.
– Silk Powder, is a powdered protein of natural silk. These proteins are similar in structure to those found in our skin and hair. In mineral cosmetics, it is supposed to take care of the durability of makeup.
– Titanium dioxide, or simply UV filter, which will be great for protecting our skin in urban conditions.
– Zinc oxide, used as a white pigment that gives us a matte effect. It also has the property of making us sicker from external factors that accelerate the aging process.
– Cystrus giant, grapefruit seed extract, which is antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral. Thanks to such ingredients, the use of mineral cosmetics after invasive procedures is completely safe 🙂
– Rose oil, recommended for people with sensitive skin, anti-inflammatory, elasticizing, brightening.
– Fractionated coconut oil, it is a wonder often found in skin care products, forms a protective layer on the skin, which prevents the evaporation of water from the epidermis, so we have the effect of moisturizing, tightening and nourishing the skin.
These are just a handful of the goodness that mineral cosmetics give us 🙂
As for their application, be aware that these are loose products, so their application is a little different from standard cosmetics, but rest assured, it is manageable in five minutes 🙂 Despite the fact that they are powders, they are great as a 3-in-1 product. Due to their powdery texture they mattify the skin, they also have an opacity at a level that is absolutely sufficient for daytime makeup. I personally use the powders also as a concealer, then I change the brush to a smaller one, like for shadows, for example, and apply to the sensitive areas, at this point the ladies always open their eyes wide and say „WOW”. 🙂
As of recently, vegan cosmetics by Arbonne have also made it to the list of top cosmetics. These products are completely safe and ideal for allergy sufferers. They do not contain gluten or any of the harmful substances mentioned earlier.
The primers come in both loose and liquid forms. They give an opaque effect, while at the same time pampering our skin during the day with an extract of common shanty, which nourishes the skin, and an extract of David’s budlea, which has strong moisturizing properties.
As the skin in the eye area is definitely thinner than that on the whole face, it is worth using special concealers, which are lighter than foundations, for camouflage. Vegan brand offers us a cream concealer with shea butter and aloe vera leaf extract, which wonderfully nourish and relax our eye area.
The top discovery of this company for me, is mascara. It doesn’t contain any tar, which very often irritates and sensitizes our eyes. Here, instead, we get bamboo and pea extract, which nourish and stimulate our lash roots to grow. A mascara that really highlights our eyelashes beautifully and on top of that acts as a conditioner? Well CHAD! 🙂 Totally in love!
