Botulinum toxin -Face and Body Institute

Botulinum toxin: injections with botulinum toxin
The effects of Botulinum toxin:
– temporary removal of dynamic facial wrinkles (crow’s feet in the eye area; smoker’s lines around the upper lip, glabellar lines, marionette lines, harelip)
– facial rejuvenation
– reduction of the activity of the muscles
– reduction of sweating
– alleviation of migraine pain
The introduction of botulinum toxin has revolutionised beauty and anti-aging treatments.
Botulinum toxin is a muscle relaxant, or more exactly, a substance that blocks the transmission of acetylcholine at the neuro-muscular junction. It causes functional numbness without damaging the nerves. Over time, new nerve ends develop, which is why the effects of botulinum toxin are temporary. bBtulinum toxin was initially used in the treatment of tics, spasms and strabismus. Since 1987 botulinum toxin has been successfully used in aesthetic medicine and is regarded as one of the safest drugs available on the market.
Small doses of botulinum toxin are used to control excessive facial movement resulting in characteristic patterns of wrinkles such as crow’s feet, frowning, glabellar lines, smoker’s lines around the mouth, and drooping mouth corners. Botox is also used on the neck and decolletage as well as for excessive sweating of underarms, feet and palms (tu link do zabiegu ‘excessive perspiration treatment’)
The effects of botox appear within 3-7 days of the treatment, and last 4 to 6 months on average. In the case of excess perspiration, they last as long as 10 months.
Research has shown that skin aging is caused by excess movement of the facial muscles and the movement of intermuscular fat, which results in ‘bags’ under the eyes. Use of Botox slows down each of these aging processes as well as getting rid of persistent migraines.
There may be slight redness for about an hour after the treatment and some bruising at the site of the botulinum toxin injection. Make-up can be applied directly after the procedure.
Contraindications to botulinum toxin use:
– infection at the injection site
– hypersensitivity to any of the preparation components (albumin)
– use of aminoglycosides (gentamicin, streptomycin)
– peripheral neuropathy
– pregnancy and lactation (optional)
– previous facial surgery – you must inform the physician if you have had any.
Post-treatment recommendations :
The injected area may be slightly reddened and/or swollen for about an hour. Sometimes slight bruising may occur.
Normal washing products and cosmetics may be used; they must be applied with clean hands.
The following are best avoided for 24 hours after the treatment:
– fruit acid creams (they may cause stinging and irritation of the skin)
– alcohol consumption, sauna, solarium, swimming and sun exposure
– heavy exercise involving jumps and bends (aerobics, running)
An interval of 28 days should be observed before treatment with laser, IPL and skin tightening devices (Zaffiro, RF). The botulinum toxin injection site should not be treated with other injections, peelings or microdermabrasion for seven days. Of course medical or healing therapy (red light) can be used immediately after the injection.
